Qualify for a CAA recognised pilots certificate and fly your own aircraft. We offer a fully structured tuition programme and every flight counts toward the number of hours needed to gain certification.
It takes about the same time as it would to learn to fly a fixed wing microlight aircraft. With no aviation experience you will normally be ready to fly solo after about 20 hours of dual training. Experienced pilots will require 5 – 10 hours of differences training if you have no previous time on gyros, they can bite both helicopter and fixed wing pilots as they are different but safer!
No, but you will need a simple certificate to be signed by your own doctor to say that are fit to fly. The CAA will also ask you to declare that you are a ‘fit and proper’ person.
The NZ CAA delegate supervision of all microlight flying to organisations that qualify under part 149 of the CAA rules. Traditionally most gyroplane pilots have trained under the NZ Recreational Aircraft Association although we are able to also offer training under the auspices of the Sport Aircraft Corporation.
